Verdict

The Toptop Maiden Stakes looks to be between Barnstorm, Johannesgrey and Ventura Cove with the vote going to Ventura Cove. It looks to be an above average maiden and any money for Johannesgrey or Barnstorm should be noted. Strictly on the form book Richard Fahey's horse should have Johannesgrey covered but there won't be much between them especially if Dandy Nicholls' horse has progressed. Mark Johnston's Barnstorm is very much the unknown quantity in the field. He was a 100,000 guinea foal so there should be ability in the locker. However, it's a worry he hasn't seen a race track till now and if ability doesn't beat him, inexperience may. Its Ventura Cove for us and the in form Fahey yard.
