made all, mistake 9th, clear when hit 2 out easily
tracked leaders, dropped rear 7th, pushed along 4 out, ridden and effort next, soon one pace
tracked winner, mistake 7th, ridden 3 out, one pace next
race keen in touch, headway to chase winner approaching 9th, ridden 2 out, soon no chance
tracked leaders, fell second
The Patrick Haslam-trained Perchancer caught the eye on his chasing debut and is given the nod over Taleban, Green Go and In Extremis II, who already has something to find with the selection after their meeting at Sedgefield at the start of August. Perchancer was steady at his fences on that occasion but gave the impression that he will be winning races in due course. And, as this looks to be a pretty weak affair, it could be the ideal opportunity for the Perugino gelding to strike for his in-form yard.
