In depth

Verdict

Villon can return with another course and distance win at the expense of Caulkleys Bank, Dewasentah and Polly Whitefoot. Villon has a penalty to overcome for his debut victory here in April but looked one to follow judging by the turn of foot he showed after cruising up to the leaders. Len Lungo's charge will be one to follow when sent over hurdles, but in the meantime can come back with a bang. Caulkleys bank also made it to the winner's enclosure at the first time of asking when successful at Market Rasen recently. He too carries a penalty, but his breeding, by Slip Anchor out of a Bustino mare, screams stamina, and he will not be found wanting in that department. If he had not bumped into Villon, he would have been the selection and is a banker for the frame at least. Dewasentah did not beat much on her Hexham introduction but is described as a nice mare by Malcolm Jefferson whose team are in good form at present. Any money for her should be noted, while Polly Whitefoot should fare better on this ground than when beaten at Hexham. Villon can take this before going on to better things.
