In depth

Verdict

Kid'z'Play can complete a hat-trick at the expense of Rising Generation and Middlethorpe, with Shares and Lease best of the rest. Jim Goldie has placed Kid'z'Play to good effect so far, the eight-year-old scoring at Perth before defying a rise when successful over the course and distance 15 days ago. He had been busy on the Flat before then and so obviously thrives on his racing. The handicapper will make it harder for him from now on so connections will be keen for him to squeeze out another victory, and he is taken to make all under Graham Lee again. Rising Generation is a model of consistency and ran another sound race when second to Liberty Seeker at Kelso at the start of the month. He can give the selection most to do along with Middlethorpe who is fit from the Flat but who has to concede weight all round. The ground might be too testing for Shares but he has the scope to progress, while the Irish raider Lease has it to do with Rising Generation on Kelso running. Kid'z'Play has the form to win this and can do so before the handicapper tightens his grip.
