As ever this looks hugely competitive and the narrow vote goes to topweight MAJOR PHIL, who has more going for him than most, with Mount Hadley a clear danger and Sir George and Silver Rime others considered. The selection stayed on strongly to score at Doncaster last time out, for which he now carries a 6lb penalty. Kieren Fallon has been getting on well with Luca Cumani's colt, who is coming along very nicely this season and he can pick up this decent prize. Mount Hadley ran second to Fremen in a seller when not placed to best advantage at the weights earlier in the month. He has won over course and distance and acts on fast ground, and he is respected. Sir George has been well placed by Ollie Pears to win five of his 17 starts, including on fast ground over this trip at Haydock last time. With just 3lbs more to shoulder and a reasonable draw he can go close. Silver Rime went very close to beating Jonny Lesters Hair at this track last time and that runner could by now have boosted the form in the earlier consolation race, so the Verglas colt has to be on short-lists. Flowing Cape is in good form and from 3lbs above his sole turf win he can get competitive with the going to suit, while Camerooney is another with claims from a mark 7lbs higher than his recent Musselburgh success. Major Phil is drawn well and can make the best of his way home.
