Always a tough race to call and this year is no different, with JEWELLED DAGGER a tentative pick ahead of Jonny Lesters Hair and Fishforcompliments. The last-named has never won beyond 6f, although he has at least proved that he stays this far. He has slipped in the weights to a very attractive mark and is entitled to be right there at the business end. Jonny Lesters Hair won over course and distance last month and is 5lbs higher today, but conditions will suit and he should go well. The ground may be a bit quick for Bonnie Prince Blue, while the competition might be too strong for Carlisle selling winner Royal Straight, and Ailsa Craig looks a better proposition under a 6lb penalty for scoring here earlier in the month. Whipma Whopma Gate is weighted up to the hilt and would prefer some cut, and we will side with Jewelled Dagger. Jim Goldie's gelding is a risky proposition as he hasn't won since 2007. However, he goes on this ground, sees out a bit further than this trip, and he comes here in good form after his last run at Ayr. Kieren Fallon partners him for the first time and he could make plenty of use of the six-year-old's stamina and that might be enough to return him to winning ways.
