A big turnout here in spite of the paltry prize money on offer and with plenty of pace on things could drop nicely for hold-up horse BOTHAM, although Young Gladiator, Just Sam and Where's Reiley are all likely to be involved. It does help to have a high draw in the sprints here that are run slightly on the turn, and all four of those cited have that in their favour. Young Gladiator is very likely to set the pace and if they let him dictate then he will have a few in trouble given his proven stamina over further, while Just Sam is competitively weighted over her optimim trip, but would prefer the ground to be good to firm. Where's Reiley went well enough at Hamilton last time, but conversely, this distance winner seems better on good to soft or the Fibresand and we will oppose. Avontuur looks held by the handicapper for now, while Cheyenne Red represents a stable going well and should strip fitter for a recent spin, though he also looks to have a few pounds too many. That cannot be said of Botham. Jim Goldie's gelding won over both this trip and 7f last year, two of them coming on good ground. He is 2lbs higher than the most recent of them, so he has a real chance here and we hope that things drop right when he is played late by Daniel Tudhope.
