This sprint is rife with exposed, out of form performers but the veteran of the party Brigadore proved that he still retains some of his old spark earlier this month at Pontefract and is a tentative nomination. He did appear one paced in the closing stages but travelled-up well and can give supporters a run for their money from a high draw. Maison Dieu is a frustrating sort for whom headgear is re-applied today. While he is a place contender it is hard to put him up as the likely winner as he has been beaten in moderate handicaps of late. Duel Ripon scorer Orotund has slipped back down the ratings and although one of those Ripon successes has been achieved on a quick surface, most of his better efforts are with an ease in the ground. All-weather specialist Wiltshire is another place contender while recent Hamilton scorer Botham, races here under a 6lb penalty after seemingly benefiting from the drop in trip last time. He will be doing his best work in the closing stages but Brigadore is selected to land it for the James Given yard.
