Michael Dods has his string in fair form now so Major Magpie has to be respected but Richard Guest's CROCODILE BAY was good value for his win at Hamilton earlier this month and he can defy the lenient 3lb rise for that success and gets the vote ahead of By Command and Saving Grace. Eric Alston's filly has been running to a consistent level of form since winning at Newcastle in April and she should be thereabouts again but may just be a shade high in the weights. Micky Hammond's Desert Hunter has found one too good over course and distance in each of his last two outings and should be involved at the business end once more off just a 1lb higher mark today. Ruth Carr's string in is good form now so Classic Descent has to be considered although a bigger threat may come from By Command at the top of the weights. Kevin Ryan's gelding disappointed at Beverley last time but he has solid claims on what he showed at Thirsk on his previous start and has claims but preference is for Hamilton winner Crocodile Bay.
