In depth

Verdict

Barrys Ark, Diamond Cutter, Laertes and Young Smokey are considered but Bellaney Jewel and Carry Duff make more appeal with John Quinn's mare preferred. She was disappointing on her reappearance and not a great deal better last time but the conditions were atrocious at Catterick and the ground too fast at Doncaster. She was consistent last season, is feasibly weighted and has her conditions today so there shouldn't be any excuses. Carry Duff had quite a hard race at Towcester but if those exertions haven't left their mark then he should give another good account as he's a progressive staying chaser who appeals as the likeliest winner if the selection fails to recapture her form. Super Road Train would prefer better ground, Barrys Ark, Laertes and Young Smokey a little to prove. So does the selection on this season's form but she can carry big weights and the drop in grade can help Bellaney Jewel shine.
