Verdict

The Gerard Butler team have an excellent strike-rate with horses like Compton Eclair and it the daughter of Lycius is confidently expected to cope with her 6lb penalty for winning at Redcar four days ago. Tarkwa and Thorntoun Gold are respected as live dangers but Magic Charm, who won a seller over course and distance last time, is better than her rating of just 37 would suggest and she is one to note in the betting. However, Compton Eclair, who has improved for the combination of the fitting of headgear and being upped in trip of late, is taken to expand her winning sequence to a quick brace. The three-year-old had an easy time of it when getting off the mark at Redcar and will be difficult to peg back if she puts in a similar effort today. She could be the type to follow at this level and can be placed to good effect in the future if the assessor does not overreact if she is successful here.
