Verdict

In a trappy finale, we will side with Firework, from a shortlist that also included Polar Force and Fair Compton. The selection is just that because he is well-weighted on the best of his winning form last summer, being three pounds below a winning mark, in fact. He made late headway on his last run and, all things considered, has as good a profile as most for this sprint. Polar Force has been raised 11 pounds for a Yarmouth win, but the upside is that he comes here in good heart and also acts at the track. Fair Compton is also back to a winning mark from last summer (although that did come on good to soft) so is afforded respect also. Of the others, My Girl Pearl is on the mark from which she won at Chepstow last September, while Blue Knight and Aintnecessarilyso are closely weighted based on recent Southwell runs, and both are capable of fair runs. Forest Dane might show some improvement for the drop in trip and Smirfy's Party is feasibly weighted on the best of his Turf form of the last 12 months. Overall, though, we will stick with Firework.
