Things have not worked out as well as expected for Liberty Run this season, but he worth a small each-way investment in a weak seller like this and rates as a better value option that Bundaberg and Champion Lion, who are likely to be amongst the more popular options. Magari is another to bear in mind, as she returns to turf on just a 1lb higher mark than for her win in this grade at Redcar. Mark Brisbourne's charge will benefit from the assistance of Eddie Ahern and she may prove to be the better of the two stable representatives in the race. Champion Lion has ability locked away somewhere but has been a nightmare to follow since he won his maiden as a three-year-old. Admittedly, the handicapper has been very slow to relent with Mick Channon's charge and it has taken him an eternity to get down to a fair mark. He is no forlorn hope of top weight in this company and, as he has a few bills to pay, it will be interesting to note if he is backed before the off. Bundaberg acted well at the track when he was third here at the start of this month. However, he has never won turf and could hardly be more exposed. Therefore, it may be worth chancing that John Egan can get some improvement out of Liberty Run. The lightly raced three-year-old has been given a live chance on these terms and, with so many frustrating types in opposition, the son of Grand Lodge, who cost 160,000gns as yearling, may be the dark horse in a very moderate contest.
