Verdict
A furiously competitive heat in prospect here and there are dangers aplenty to Blythe Knight, who is marginally preferred to Atahuelpa and Telemachus, who along with Gala Sunday and Commision add further spice to the showcase handicap today. However, Blythe Knight is developing into a smart performer who will be suited by the conditions today. The Selkirk colt only indicated at what he is capable of when getting off the mark in a warm maiden at Doncaster on the first day of the season. But his subsequent efforts have confirmed that there are further races to be won with him. He arrives here on the back of an improved effort at Haydock last time and appears to have hit top form again just in time for this. The James Given team have been struggling for winners of late and Telemachus looks to be one to be wary of at present. So Commision, a half-brother to Lots Of Love, could give the selection more of a test. Gala Sunday is another that has to be respected but he has a little to prove after a very poor effort at Goodwood last time. In contrast to Blythe Knight, who arrives here at the top of his game.
