Verdict

A tricky maiden opens up the eight race card where most are yet to make a debut and while Sharp Eclispe is certainly bred well enough to take a race of this standard and Strange Fiction has a sprint pedigree we side with JACK MY BOY. David Evans' runner will eventually want a lot further than this being a half-brother to a multiple winner over a mile plus in Italy but his debut over this trip at Leicester was promising, despite unseating his rider on the way down to the start, and with the form looking good from that race he can score for a yard who are going well with their two-year-olds so far this season. Sharp Eclispe is from a family who produce plenty of two-year-old winners and has every chance of going well first time out in this company. Strange Fiction perhaps has a pedigree more conducive to sprinting than the two we've mentioned but the bloodline is shorter on talent while Bronze Beau was solid in a fair maiden at Kempton last time and normal progressive can have him in the ix. With plenty of newcomers and not much experience among the others a market check is vital but without it Jack My Boy has the call.
