Verdict

This looks likely to fall to a newcomer and SOPRANIST is a reasonable option with the yard having taken last year's renewal with Pampas Cat and being in fine form at present. Calypso Bay, Uniquely Poised, Native Ruler and Ostaadi are other names to note. It's possible that Jimmy Fortune may have had the choice about which Gosden runner to ride in which case one would have to respect the chances of Uniquely Poised. However, we'll put forwards the Princess Haya owned son of Singspiel who is related to some fair sorts including Subpoena and Three Graces. Jeremy Noseda and Roger Charlton both saddled well regarded runners last year and Calypso Bay, who represents powerful connections, already has a number of Group races entries, including the English and Irish Derbys. Golden Rock hails from a successful family but the yard's runners tend to need their first runs more often than not. Native Ruler is a half-brother to Sixties Icon out of the trainer's Oaks heroine Love Divine and holds entries in the Dante and the Derby; his yard has made a solid start to the season. Support for Ostaadi would bring him into the equation, Devotion To Duty may prove capable of better whilst Monetary Fund and Horsley Warrior have shown ability but Sopranist is suggested.
