Verdict

Richard Hannon has won this race four times in the last ten years and reeled off a hat-trick between 2004 and 2006. MONSIEUR CHEVALIER appears to be the stable's first string and is preferred to Hearts Of Fire and Soccer. Hearts Of Fire was nibbled at in the market ahead of winning the Brocklesby and there was plenty to like about the style of his victory. The second has won twice already and there's also been success for some of those further back in the field but he faces a stiff task on these terms. Soccer was value for more than the winning margin of half a length at Lingfield from a horse that had finished fifth in the Brocklesby. He represents a yard that has enjoyed plenty of success with their juveniles and he must be accorded respect. Monsieur Chevalier made his debut at Folkestone where he pulled five lengths clear of the field to win in the style of a useful individual. It's early days for the form but he was visually impressive and his trainer's record in this race commands respect. His stablemate shouldn't be dismissed on debut and is bred for speed as is Ant Music who represents the first crop of smart juvenile Antonius Pius but the breeding of Zero Seven suggests that he could be taken off his feet. This race often throws up some decent sorts and Monsieur Chevalier could be another.
