Another chance is given to Dr Sharp to shine with recent winners Best Port and Great As Gold providing stern opposition. Tom Tate's charge has often been well punted in similar events and while his followers have done their money on a number of occasions, we will give him just one more chance. There was no fluke about Best Port's victory last time out. He is not the quickest of individuals in a finish and if this becomes a sprint, he invariably becomes a little vulnerable as a result. Great As Gold was well punted before a recent success at Pontefract. He stays well in excess of this trip and appears suited by any surface. Kaparolo had bits and pieces of staying form in his earlier days although he is a little quirky and the ultimate success or failure will have little to do with the jockey. The Persuader was in great form last term but has been unsighted in two recent starts. The Ring should run another solid race. A speculative punt is taken about Dr Sharp.
