Verdict

This does not look to be the best of contests and Chris Thornton seems to have found a suitable opportunity for Quicks The Word to open his account and he is taken to do so at the main expense of Count Cougar and Boavista. The selection is best in on official BHB ratings, has form on a soft surface and has been running well of late. The only negative is a draw in stall three but, with plenty of doubts concerning his chief rivals, Quicks The Word looks worth backing. The American-bred Count Cougar is far from certain to go on the ground and a bigger danger may be Boavista. Tim Easterby's filly needs to improve on previous form but the stable's youngsters normally progress with experience and there may be more to come from her. The remainder make limited appeal with Haze Babybear, twice place on the all-weather, probably the best of them.
