    Verdict

In a race that has cut up badly, Izdiham has the potential to beat Calcutta who has his second race in the space of four days. Just three turn out here, with Mobo-Baco up against it at the weights, so it is in reality a match between the first two mentioned. Calcutta's last victory came in this very event last year when he beat sole rival Wannabe Around, since when he has been to Dubai and back in search of another elusive visit to the winner's enclosure. His latest effort, at Goodwood on Thursday, saw him get boxed in despite the small field, eventually finishing only third behind Muchea. He remains hard to win with, and although a few pounds lower in the ratings than last year, may find Izdiham too strong. Marcus Tregoning's stable are in form now and this son of Nashwan, winner of a Listed race at Sandown last summer, is rated nearly a stone superior to Calcutta on the ratings but meets him on level terms here. Pacemaker to Nayef in Falbrav's Coral-Eclipse and Juddmonte victories this summer, he is a useful animal in his own right, certainly at this level, and should prove that here.
