A race lacking strength in depth and Roger Charlton looks to have found the ideal opening for Innovation to lose her maiden tag. Innovation, a half-sister to a dual 10-furlong winner, will be worth a small fortune to breed with if she can get her head in front, as she is also from the same family as the top-class Rainbow Quest. While she has looked nothing special to date, she has shown enough to suggest a small race can come her way when finishing a close-up third to El Laoob in a big field at Newbury earlier this month. This is a drop in class for her and she should make no mistake. Spectacular Hope has shown little in her two outings to date and she may do better when going handicapping, so it looks left to Ravenglass to provide the main danger. John O'Shea's colt has been a model of consistency and deserves to find a race, but whether he will appreciate this step up in trip, one cannot be sure as his mother was a winner over 10-furlongs, a trip which suits him well. However, he does face a stiff task in trying to give 19lbs to Innovation, who should enhance her value tonight.
