jinked left start, chased winner, no chance from 2f out
A poor turnout for this contest and it appears Fine Silver has frightened away the opposition. Paul Cole's grey colt first caught the eye when chasing home the well-regarded Hunting Lodge at the Craven meeting back in April. He may have done better still had he not gone after the tearaway leader Signor Panettiere and as a consequence didn't have anything left to repel the late challenge of Hunting Lodge that day. He was then somewhat disappointing on his next outing at Leicester behind probably one of the best fillies seen out so far this season in the shape of La Cucarracha. It is possible that effort may have come too soon after his Newmarket run, but freshened up since, he will have no excuses here. He may be followed home by Treasure House, who is a half-brother to seven winners including juvenile winner She-Wolf and the useful sprinter Chookie Heiton. Trench Coat runs here in preference to an entry at Salisbury later in the week and this March foal is related to a couple of high-class performers in the States. However, Fine Silver sets a fair standard, and one of the newcomers will have to be pretty smart to lower his colours.
