Verdict

Rightful Ruler hails from a stable in form and can see off the challenge of Magic Instinct in what looks a two-horse race on paper. With Barry Hills in better form than Marcus Tregoning at present, Rightful Ruler should make a bold bid to get his head in front at the seventh time of asking. His experience should come in handy against Magic Instinct who to be fair shaped well enough when third to Unfurled at Goodwood 16 days ago. The second that day, Glistening, came out to frank the form at Thirsk on Saturday, and so Magic Instinct will be expected to open his account before too long. Although confined to the all-weather of late, Rightful Ruler's first two outings last autumn were both on this track, so although he is definitely not one of the stable's leading lights, he has enough experience and knowledge of the track to make him the selection. The rest appear to be up against it but any money for Mick Channon's Royal Jet would be of interest. Basically, Magic Instinct has the scope, but at the likely odds, is worth opposing with Rightful Ruler.
