Master Somerville was good value for his win at Uttoxeter last month but a 13lb rise for that success leaves Henry Daly's gelding with more to do and he may be best watched today and a better bet looks to be Pop Ahead, who gets the vote with Mylord Collonges rated the pick of the remainder. The selection deserves to get his head in front having found just the one too good in two starts in handicaps of late and off a similar mark Jonjo O'Neill's gelding is taken to gain an overdue success. Alison Thorpe's Cleymor House has been in fine form but has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for his successes last month and may now be too high in the weights. Vic Dartnell's Double Header ran better at Taunton earlier this month and has claims on that evidence but a bigger threat is likely to come from Susan Nock's in-form Mylord Collonges, although an 8lb rise for his recent success at Stratford seems harsh. Pop Ahead looks the pick of the weights and Jonjo O'Neill's gelding gets the verdict.
