Oskar High gave notice of an imminent victory when runner-up here in May and duly obliged on a return visit three weeks later, though that was over 3m1f. The veteran Bective Cave could hardly have won any easier in a Down Royal handicap but has been hit with a 10lb rise so this looks more difficult. Alfred Wegener scored over slightly shorter on this track but then ran moderately at Kilbeggan while All The Angels, who completed a double in July, couldn't handle an 8lb rise at Listowel. Youngnedofthehill completed a double last month but a strike-rate of 1-33 is off-putting so the vote goes to AUTHORATIVE (NAP), who was in winning form at this stage a year ago and made a positive return to action over 2m3f at Kilbeggan last month when leading at this trip before fading from the last.
