In depth

Verdict

Baileys Outshine can defy topweight, with Pirner's Brig and Ronnie Howe a couple of dangers. James Given has his string in good form at present, and although saddled with topweight here, the claims of Baileys Outshine are obvious. Having reached the first three a number of times already this season, it is only a matter of time before she comes good again, and, as her sole victory to date came on soft ground, she will handle today's conditions more than most. Mick Easterby won this last year with Moremeatmic, and now relies on Pirner's Brig who has it to do with the selection on their Southwell running, while Ronnie Howe in turn is held by the latter on their running at the same track in March. Stoneacre Gareth is starting to look well handicapped but is hard to win with, and so, with consistency the key, we look to Baileys Outshine to come out on top in the finale.
