    Verdict

    Distant Sun is the pick over Vadinka and Hansomis in a race in which nothing really has a clear-cut chance. Something has to open its account here, and on the strength of his past efforts, the pin comes down on Distant Sun who in truth has yet to reproduce his all-weather form from the start of the year. Ian Semple's gelding has also yet to encounter cut in the ground, so there are negatives, but in a moderate contest he could still be good enough. Vadinka is another whose best form has been on an artificial surface up to now, and he too needs to prove himself on Turf, while the exploits of Hansomis do not even measure up to his two main rivals. A difficult race to fathom can go to Distant Sun.
