In depth

Verdict

Mystical Ayr has run creditably in both his starts this season and should be thereabouts again but he faces a stiff task to reverse form with Scotland The Brave on last season's form on similar ground at these weights and James Bethell's gelding is taken to resume winning ways with Tequila Sheila rated the best of the rest. The selection is at his best when the mud is flying and should have conditions to suit this afternoon so Scotland The Brave gets the vote to bounce back to winning ways. Writ has yet to prove his effectiveness under this ground, while Attacca needs to improve on recent form to trouble the judge. Hansomelle does have form in the soft but is not certain to be suited by the drop back to this trip for the first time in two years. Tequila Sheila has been running well of late and can again be expected to be thereabouts but the vote goes to Scotland The Brave, who has trip and ground conditions to suit.
