Soft ground is not a barrier to quite a few of these and it is with little confidence that we side with recent Carlisle winner CAPTAIN SCOOBY. It could easily be a case of job done already with the selection as he was taking advantage of his lowest mark when winning at 20/1 last time out. Having tried various headgear, he ran without any aides and responded well to pressure to repel the good yardstick Hotham. A 6lb penalty will obviously make life tougher but he might be up to it. Course and distance winner Grissom is edging back down to his last winning mark, Mister Fantastic's best run came on soft ground last year when third to Firebet, whilst Sanjay's Choice drops in class and the weights on a jaunt across from Ireland and is seriously considered. Cheyenne Red bumped into a progressive rival last time and he might be better judged on his Hamilton soft ground win earlier in the month. New headgear is tried on Maggie Lou and On Offer, this is a drop in class for Kingswinford, whilst Blown It has not been harshly treated with a 3lb rise in the weights for a recent C+D success. Narrow preference is for Captain Scooby.
