MARINE SPIRIT may have been let in lightly on a mark of 82 and he is preferred to Take Ten. The selection comes here on the back of a comfortable Folkestone success. With the time reading well considering he was not given a hard time of things in the final furlong, and with the second a well-thought-of Henry Cecil runner, the feeling is that the form will stack up fairly well. The first three were miles clear and with more improvement to come he is taken to carry top-weight to victory. King's Approach ran in a hot race at Goodwood last time but could never feature; this easier company will suit as will a 3lb lower mark. Azif looks a five furlong horse, Gundaroo can improve now tackling a sounder surface than at Nottingham last time out, whilst Take Ten showed a valiant attitude to see off Bronze Beau at Thirsk and the extra furlong is only likely to be in his favour. White Daffodil has some very solid form to her name and is expected to appreciate the sixth furlong this afternoon, whilst Ginger Grey (sporting first-time cheek-pieces) and Ever So Bold have been holding their form well. More open than the betting is likely to suggest however Marine Spirit can oblige.
