Dean Iarracht, Sampower Rose and VALID POINT make up the shortlist here and it is the last-named who narrowly comes out on top. Although he may not be a stable star, a basement mark of 45 means that the selection could make hay over the next couple of weeks. His latest start on his handicap debut at Brighton was his best effort to date and with this stiffer test of stamina in his favour he looks worth siding with. It should be noted that he has four more entries over the next week. Kristopher James ran quite well in defeat at Newcastle last time; his best runs however have come on good to firm ground and the going must raise a question. A tongue-tie is tried on Royal Society, Shadows Lengthen is one to watch in the betting with the blinkers on again (finished in front of Kristopher James last time), whilst Jachol may be modest but at least he is consistent enough and less exposed than many. Sampower Rose steps up in trip today and if the filly gets the distance then she should be there in the shake-up, however her pedigree is not stamina leaden and her win came at the sharp track of Catterick. The ground could be an issue with Northside Prince, however the market may help guide to his chance as well. An open and eminently winnable handicap, in which Valid Point may be worth siding with.
