In depth

Verdict

Having run some solid races in fair maidens CORSICA sets a useful standard and is taken to break his duck at the fourth time of asking, although, Godolphin's Balerius should build on his first run and Monkton Vale was also promising enough on debut to suggest another challenge. It's true that the pick has not built on a promising debut when he found just one to good but he has continued to shape like a potential winner in two starts since and the lines from all of his starts make encouraging reading. Balerius showed plenty on inexperience on debut but still ran a solid race. We expect more from this well bred type this time and he should be close near the end. Monkton Vale defied odds of 50/1 to place in a maiden here over a furlong less on debut and wouldn't have to find a great deal of improvement to challenge again while Mr Emirati is the most interesting newcomer and should go well over this trip. Not the easiest race to start with but Corsica sets the standard and is the one with which we side.
