A wide-open affair on paper may go to Graceful Air, with Showtime Annie, Violet Avenue and The Stick just three more in with a chance. This is a tricky betting medium in which only a tentative vote goes to Graceful Air who has been there or thereabouts on each of her three starts this term. She has yet to race over a mile, let alone win, but the way that she stayed on to be nearest at the finish at Musselburgh suggests that her turn is near. Strictly on the book she has a bit to find with Showtime Annie on Wolverhampton running earlier, but the latter has been beaten twice since. Violet Avenue showed a modicum of ability last season and returns to the fray, but will need the run, while The Stick has posted three duck-eggs this term. She comes from a stable in form though and will appreciate the faster ground than she has encountered of late. Of the rest, Newmarket raider Come What July should not be dismissed, but a small stake on Graceful Air may not go amiss.
