Verdict

NEVERTIKA is not straight-forward but he is given another chance here, primarily at the main expense of Portavadie, Ramsden Boy and Cunning Clarets. The selection got loose before his last start and really shouldn't have run. However if he is better behaved before the start then there is every chance that this mark of 117 will be lenient on just this second start for James Ewart. The Hairy Lemon has a good young jockey onboard and has held his form fairly well this year without winning, Knight Legend is more of a player now dropping in grade, whilst Portavadie ran well in defeat at Musselburgh last time but hasn't been the easiest to win with. Premier Dane looks nicely handicapped, Degas Art has had a stop-start last year but is well-handicapped if on form, whilst course and distance winner Ramsden Boy has an 11lb higher mark for his win here last month and is up against better opposition today. Cunning Clarets is a promising novice who is considered off this mark of 110, Summer Soul looks well-treated on his run behind Mith Hill last July, whilst Benmadigan flopped last time but is likely to have come on plenty for that first run of the year. A tricky finale for punters, but narrow preference is for Nevertika.
