      Verdict

      A small field for this maiden but is is quite competitive as a case can be made for most of them. We will take a chance with Sovereignty, Love Angel and Holbeck Ghyll will not be far away. Ian Semple's colt has been running consistently well in maidens this season, culminating in a close up fourth behind Strawberry Leaf at Haydock. It is a bit of a surprise he hasn't contested a handicap as yet, but if running up to his usual standards he should be capable of taking this prize. Holbeck Ghyll took on some decent opposition last season, including the likes of top handicap sprinter Bond City. He hasn't been seen since January when well beaten on the all-weather, however if fit, he should be involved in the finish. Love Angel drops in trip today having performed with credit over ten furlongs. He has a similar official rating to the selection, he warrants every respect. Park approach and Wizardmicktee are also in with a shout on their best efforts, but Sovereignty has plenty going for him today and he gets the vote.
