A very ordinary claimer can go to French Mannequin, who is selected in preference to the unexposed Fighter Command and Sofisio. The last named has a little bit to find with on recent form but at least has the capacity to stay this trip when he is on a going day. As a previous course and distance winner from a 12lb higher mark, Sofisio could be good value for a place in the frame. However, he does need to pull something out of the hat and is not one to be going overboard about. Fighter Command is unexposed in comparison to most of the rest and is certainly bred to appreciate the trip. He is weighted to reverse recent form with Margery Daw and looks the main threat to the selection. However, French Mannequin has been holding his own against stiffer opponents of late and is fancied to relish the drops back to this grade of competition today
