Poet's Place, Tagseed, Himalya and Crown Choice are all considered but our preference is for YAA WAYL. The Michael Jarvis inmate showed a willing attitude to score in conditions company last time and has the look of a progressive gelding. This of course is a fiercely competitive race but the Godolphin horse he beat at Newbury has franked the form by finishing second in a warm race and Yaa Wayl looks a horse capable of holding his own in better company. Poet's Place could be the each-way value in the race after a solid second at Newcastle, when he stayed on having been outpaced initially over six. With that in mind this step up in distance is ideal and off the same mark he can run well, particularly if the heavens open. Himalya isn't the easiest to win with but has put together a solid run of form lately, notably when second at the Royal meeting two starts back. He's now 4lbs higher but should confirm form with those in behind, the pick of whom may be Swift Gift who can be expected to have come on for the run. Tagseed had to battle hard to land the odds at Redcar but he's progressive and unexposed so could well shrug off a 4lb rise, while Crown Choice ran a cracker at Newmarket having scored previously at Sandown and looks to have conditions to suit. Castles In The Air is a better proposition over six as is Something and both have plenty to find with Himalya anyway, while Suruor looks in need of help from the handicapper. Decent Fella wasn't beaten far on his first start in almost a year and can only have improved for that run while Big Noise could run well at a price but Yaa Wayl gets our nomination.
