Verdict

Bold Act's neck defeat by Bertinelli at Newbury, when Exoplanet was close behind, could get a boost earlier in the day but the winner's stablemate DRUMROLL (NAP) could be the one to beat here. Runner-up to stablemate and subsequent Irish 2000 Guineas winner Paddington at the Curragh, he was awarded a Group 3 on a return visit when badly impeded and has the scope to go on to better things. The Gosden yard have a strong hand with Epictetus, fifth in the Dante and the French Derby, and Torito, an impressive winner at Epsom. Ed Bethell doesn't tilt and windmills so the presence of Redcar winner Oviedo is intriguing while the easy Windsor winner Bolster is in the could be anything category.
