      Verdict

      CRESCENT LAKE, on an upward curve this season winning three of his last five starts, was particularly impressive when a Goodwood scorer over this trip last month. A 4lb rise to a mark of 84 is not beyond his scope and he's well suited to this distance and forecast conditions. He's just preferred to Real Dream, brought along in typically patient mode by his master trainer and highly likely to appreciate this step-up to 1m6f after an excellent effort at the Dante meeting at York in a competitive Class 2 affair. Down a level here, he's a massive threat. It's far from a two-horse battle by any means with the likes of Tides Of War, a respectable third to subsequent Ascot Gold Cup winner, Courage Mon Ami, when last seen. Apparate is also well considered for Team Osborne.
