Verdict

Impossible to be dogmatic in a wide-open contest but EQUILATERAL ran a highly commendable fifth of 17 in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and previous runner-up efforts suggest he's every chance of notching a first success for well over two years moving in handicap company, albeit of high quality. Vintage Clarets ran out quite a decisive winner of the Gosforth Park Cup and the excellent Connor Planas offsets 5lb of the 6lb rise from the assessor. He should be involved at the business end, whilst the likes of King's Lynn, the in-form Dream Composer and Rohaan are all possibilities. The latter is hard to assess currently as he's been strangely below par both times this term, but a return to somewhere around his best would see him right in the mix despite conceding weight all round.
