Not straightforward with much depending on improvement rates following a debut and with a number having shown ability without looking like winning first time up. Under The Sun, runner-up on Haydock debut, was beaten to the tune of five lengths but probably still sets the form standard, whilst the likes of City House, Never Sell and ROMANTIC SAMURAI all displayed plenty of promise first time and it is the latter who makes most appeal. The Hannon colt kept on nicely after a tardy start at Haydock when only beaten under four lengths by Lake Forest, who gave the form a real boost when runner-up in the Group 2 July Stakes on the opening day of the Newmarket July meeting this week. The market will help to guide regarding the newcomers of which Al Musmak and Playtime make most appeal.
