Red Gala can prevail despite topweight, with Tropical Strait, Pevensey, St Savarin and Leslingtaylor just a few dangers. This valuable handicap should be a stepping stone to greater success for Red Gala who has the class to make up into a Listed performer at the very least. Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old is unbeaten in both starts this season, at Newbury in April and off a 9lb higher mark at Doncaster on his return from a break last month, and the form of both races has worked out well. Doncaster third Ladies Best can line up on 4lb better terms, but it is hard to see the selection's stablemate turning the tables, given the improvement expected from the topweight. Tropical Strait is thrown in at the deep end here, but is lightly raced and lines up on the back of two all-weather victories, so he is worth a mention, while Pevensey, successful in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes here in June, looks to have been laid out for this. His stablemate Leslingtaylor is going the right way and sneaks in at the bottom of the handicap, and St Savarin, who goes on the ground and possesses plenty of stamina, gives the north a strong hand. However, they will all have to go some to stop Red Gala from completing a hat-trick.
