Tufton has solid claims at the weights but he has yet to prove his worth on a soft surface and is not bred to handle it so preference is for Direct Debit, with Wovoka rated the pick of the remainder. The selection ran up to his best in a Yarmouth handicap on a soft surface last month and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice. Copper King is bred to handle the cut in the ground but may just be a shade high in the weights in handicaps which is why he runs in this grade today, while Silver Blue is on a long losing sequence and is hard to recommend on recent evidence. Wovoka does have form on a soft surface and has to be respected on the pick of his form but a safer bet looks to be Direct Debit. Michael Bell's gelding comes into this on the back of a good run and is taken to gain a deserved success.
