Aaim For Applause sets a decent standard and Mick Channon's colt gets the vote to gain a deserved first success on ground that should suit, getting the verdict ahead of Eastern Gift and Little Wing. The last mentioned showed promise on his Goodwood debut but would need to improve to trouble the judge so may be best watched. Tina's Best handled the ground well enough on his first start but again needs to improve, while Mark Johnston's Jaadull is nicely bred but the yard's runners tend to need their first start. Neville Callaghan's Red Alert Day ran promisingly on his Newmarket debut but that was on a fast surface and he is far from certain to handle today's more testing ground. The ground should not be a problem for Eastern Gift and Richard Hannon's colt has to be respected but Aaim For Applause holds solid claims and he gets the vote.
