Verdict

WIGMORE HALL may be able to take this step up in class in his stride and lower the colours of Corporal Maddox, Quadrille et al. Wigmore Hall was something of a talking horse for his debut on the back of some promising homework but proved coltish in the preliminaries and failed to run his race. He showed similar traits ahead of his second outing but that didn't prevent him from running out a ready winner of what was probably only a modest maiden. This is a much stronger contest but he still holds a Racing Post Trophy entry and may be able to justify his connections faith. Corporal Maddox has his first run for a new yard and may be able to improve on the form that he showed in the Gimcrack but his penalty makes life more difficult with Lamh Albasser coming out marginally best on a strict reading of the weights. The Godolphin owned colt is a decent yardstick and a consistent performer but looks short of top class and probably needs the others not to live up to expectations if he's to score. Quadrille doesn't have a great deal to find with him on the figures and his form is solid but he may not come fully into his own until next year. This is a big ask for Vimiero who shaped with promise in a fair Newbury maiden and it may be too big a leap for him at this stage of his career so we're going to take a chance that Wigmore Hall can produce a more professional performance on his third start and bridge the gap in the ratings.
