Verdict

Three year olds have won two of the three runnings of this race and the Classic generation are well represented with Class Is Class likely to prove popular. However, we prefer the claims of CLASSIC VINTAGE with the likely starting prices a deciding factor. Young Mick finished tenth in this race last year but was only beaten under 3 lengths and he'd be a popular winner whilst Magicalmysterytour, Inventor and Pevensey were all in front of him twelve months ago and can be given chances again. This trip may stretch the consistent Safari Sunup and of more interest may be Siberian Tiger who has the assistance of blinkers and the Ebor winning pilot in a bid to recapture his form on the level although it's worth noting that he didn't fare too badly over hurdles last time. Record Breaker and Quai D'Orsay both merit respect following recent victories whilst Michael Jarvis is also double handed and both Opinion Poll and Kings Destiny have claims. The former has the worst of the draw but should fare better than he did at the Royal meeting following the recent rain. Kings Destiny drops back in trip which won't bother him and he could get the run of the race out in front and he's well drawn to adopt those tactics. Rangefinder was always to the fore when winning on soft ground at Thirsk and has the scope for further improvement whilst Class Is Class has been made favourite for his last three starts and will be popular again. He hasn't managed to win any of them though and has lost his position at crucial stages of his races. That may be down to inexperience rather than a character trait but he's likely to be underpriced in any respect. Therefore, we'll side with Classic Vintage who represents last year's successful yard. He drops down in trip after a crack at a Listed race at Goodwood but he ran out an impressive winner the last time that he tackled twelve furlongs. His draw isn't ideal and he will need a little luck in running but that applies to the majority of the field, many of whom don't have the same room for improvement as Classic Vintage.
