Many of these are old rivals but there are a trio of three-year-olds hiding out among the older horses and two of them won last time. Ventura Ocean’s victory at Newmarket was probably a career best while Pogo did well to score at York where Fanaar finished third. Escobar is back in the right grade but Ripp Orf has proved frustrating to follow this year, though is only a pound higher than when landing this 12 months ago. BREANSKI was only ninth last year but running on and is 2lb lower now, despite having won two of his last three. He needed the help of the stewards here in July but travels down from Middleham again with plenty of confidence behind him. Last year’s fourth Spanish City wasn’t winning out of turn at Yarmouth and Salute The Soldier beat Tabarrak, Sanaadh and Kimifive at Goodwood but is no certainty to confirm that form on this more conventional track.
