Cantgeton bounced back to form when landing a handicap at Perth two weeks ago and he has to be respected following that effort but a 10lb rise in the weights seems excessive for Peter Monteith's gelding and preference is for BEGGARS CAP, who gets the verdict ahead of Pilca. Malcolm Jefferson's gelding ran much better at Southwell last time and has slipped to a fair mark so he has to be considered but has not won for some time and may be booked for a place at best. Coach Lane is capable but needs some help from the handicapper, while Tim Walford's Miss Pross is likely to find this tougher than the race that he won at Towcester last time. Ian Williams has his team in good form but his runner, Bambi de L'Orme, has given little sign for encouragement of late and a safer option looks to be Beggars Cap. Ferdy Murphy's gelding lost no caste in defeat behind Pepsyrock at Ayr last month and he has every chance off just a 4lb higher mark today.
