England will begin their 2017 campaign with a trip to Dortmund to face Germany in a friendly on March 22.
The match, which was announced on Friday by the Football Association, will be England's opening fixture of 2017 and could be the first of a new manager's reign, should interim boss Gareth Southgate not be retained.
Southgate has two games left on his temporary deal, a World Cup Qualifier against Scotland and a Wembley friendly versus Spain in November.
The match precedes a World Cup Qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on the Sunday and comes a year after then boss Roy Hodgson watched his England side beat the world champions 3-2 in Berlin.
England have two wins and a draw from their opening three games in the qualification campaign for Russia 2018 following the stalemate in Slovenia on Tuesday.
