Verdict
Not many three-year-olds have run in this in recent years but one was second last year and a couple are likely to be near the head of the betting today. Balance Play has won his last two at Chester and Goodwood but the going may not be soft enough for Ralph Beckett’s gelding. Intinso also prefers some give in the ground but Bague D'Or has gone well fresh in the past. Ravenscraig Castle has been knocking on the door but is on a long losing run and was well beaten in this 12 months ago when a pound lower. Toshizou finished ahead of Marhaba The Champ at Epsom two runs ago but was unplaced behind WOOTTON’SUN next time at Haydock. The Fahey gelding followed up that victory with an excellent run in the Shergar Cup at Ascot when just failing to confirm Haydock running with Scampi. The front two pulled well clear so the four-year-old can go close again despite another 5lb rise. Educator has become expensive to follow but Paradias is not out of this. Zanndabad was well beaten over 2m here on Wednesday.
